On October 28, 2019, Almaz Abdygalimov Chairman of the Management Board of KazGeology JSC met with Aaron Le Page the Head of Logistics Planning Office of Rio Tinto iron-ore division within the participation in IMARC International Mining Conference held in Perth city.
During the meeting, Le Page has invited to visit Operations Remote Control Center. This Center is the heart of Rio Tinto, since the company uses remote control system during subsoil operations. Thus, all drilling rigs, trucks and ore transport trains are automatically and remotely controlled. Currently, these technologies are used at the company’s sites in Australia. The further use of artificial intelligence is one of the next stages in the company development.
In conclusion, Almaz Abdygalimov has noted active geological exploration works performance by Rio Tinto in the territory of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and suggested considering the possibility of applying similar technology in discovering deposits in Kazakhstan.
